Onema highlights in 2010

The "Onema highlights in 2010" just came out. The richly illustrated document presents a number of remarkable advances made during the year 2010 and portrays the efforts of Onema personnel and agency partners in working together to restore water and aquatic environments to good status. Numerous "viewpoints" of partners and Onema personnel provide interesting information on the work and the results obtained in preserving water quality, protecting biodiversity, analysing physical alterations in rivers and restoring them, improving management of water resources, improving the quality of water data and enhancing the effectiveness of the water police. Managing solid transport in rivers

The Onema series of "Knowledge for action" books provides professionals in the water and aquatic-environments sector with information on recent research and science-advice work. The second book in the series, titled "Managing solid transport in rivers", was recently published. It reviews current knowledge on solid transport, a major factor in correct operation of river hydrosystems, the main alterations inflicted and the consequences. It also presents a number of important guidelines on how to improve management. The book is available on the Onema site, in the Publications section, and at the national portal for "Water technical documents" (www.documentation.eaufrance.fr).

Res’Eau Infos, the newsletter for WIS-F partners

The first issue of Res’Eau Infos, the newsletter for the partners of the French water information system (WIS-F), was published in the beginning of July. The quarterly publication is intended for everyone working in or in conjunction with WIS-F, i.e. Onema, the Water agencies, ministries, local State services, organisations such as BRGM, Ineris, Cemagref, local governments, etc. The goal is to serve as a place for regular discussions on work habits, priority projects and the progress made, WIS-F news, etc.
