    ONEMA participates to the 5th World Water Forum wich takes place in Istanbul, Turkey, from 16 to 22 March 2009.

ONEMA participates to the 5th World Water Forum

Organized each 3 years by the World Water Council, the World Water Forum groups together governments, local authorities and engaged citizens in order to deal with water issues and find solutions.

Four successive forums –Marrakech in 1997, The Hague in 2000, Kyoto in 2003 and Mexico in 2006- had been organized to answer to four principal objectives:
  • Give importance to water on political agenda
  • Discuss solutions from water issues in the 21st century
  • Formulate concrete responses
  • Generate a strong political commitment

5th World Water Forum will deal with “Bridging divides for water”.

ONEMA may contribute to several official sessions:

  • Education and Capacity Development Strategies (6.1)
  • Basin Management and Transboundary Cooperation (3.1)
  • Ethics, Transparency and Empowerment of Stakeholders (4.3)
  • Data for All (6.4)
  • Water Science and Technology: Appropriate and Innovative Solutions for the 21st century to better address the needs of society

ONEMA and the “French Pavilion”:

To show their strong commitments related to water, French Water organizations are grouped together within the French Water Partnership (FWP).

In Istanbul , FWP will be presented with its partners in the French Pavilion where, lectures and presentations about four main themes will be organized:

  • Knowledge Management
  • Water empowerment and local authorities’ role
  • Water and Global Warming
  • Water and Energy

In addition to its implication in these four main domains, ONEMA organizes side events related to two major points:
